I’m Alexa, perinatal therapist and motherhood coach

I’m obsessed with making motherhood more manageable for second time Moms on Their Own Terms.

I'm a mom of two, a licensed therapist, and the founder of Round Two — because somewhere around my second kid, I realized nobody had built anything for exactly this moment.

For years, my work as the founder and LMFT at Therapy For California Moms has centered on one population: women in pregnancy and postpartum. I've sat with hundreds of moms through the parts nobody warns you about — the mental load nobody splits evenly, the rage that comes out of nowhere and scares you, the identity crisis that hits somewhere between the nursery and your first day back at work.

But somewhere in all of that, I kept noticing the same pattern with second-time moms specifically: you're not struggling because you don't know what postpartum is. You're struggling because you do.

You know exactly what sleep deprivation does to your patience, your marriage, your sense of yourself — and that knowledge doesn't make round two easier. It just means you're bracing for something while simultaneously parenting a kid who already exists, already needs you, and has no idea you're bracing for anything.

You're the one crying in the bathroom wondering if you'd made a mistake, while also feeling wildly grateful for the baby you just cried about.

You're watching your partner bond effortlessly with your toddler while barely knowing this new baby at all.

You're keeping score at 2am over who's more tired, and you don't recognize the version of your marriage that's fighting about it. You're angry at the people who showed up for baby #1 and disappeared for baby #2 — and guilty for needing them at all.

Nobody was building a program for that specific, complicated, "I've been through this and it's still this hard" experience. So I built one.

Round Two exists because I got tired of watching capable, already-been-through-it moms get handed the same generic "new mom" advice, twice. You don't need a crash course in what postpartum is — you lived it once already. You need a real plan for what round two actually asks of you: the mental load, the sibling dynamics, the marriage strain, the identity shift, the partner conversations nobody wants to have out loud.

That's exactly what this program is built to do.

Round Two is coaching, not therapy. My clinical background (and lived experience of transitioning from one to two kids) is exactly why I understand this season as deeply as I do — but coaching is its own thing, built around a structured curriculum and forward motion, not clinical treatment. (If what you actually need is therapy, I'm happy to point you toward the right support.)

What I bring to this work isn't guesswork — it's years of specialized clinical experience with exactly this population, built into a program designed to move you forward one focused week at a time, wherever you're located.

Motherhood doesn't have to feel like this. Neither does round two. Let's build you a real plan that actually works for you.
